What to Wear to a Political Event or Party

Unless specified otherwise, the standard dress code for a political event is probably business or business casual. Most will be dressed fairly conservatively. Men may wear a suit with a tie that is the color representing their political party- blue or red.Women can do the same with their outfit- wear red if you're a Republican and wear blue if you're a Democrat.

For Men, Vineyard Vines has a great selection of stylish, yet party appropriate ties. These ties have been seen on every man in the political establishment from Rudy Giuliani to Bill Clinton. Though mainly an East Coast staple, there’s no reason they can’t translate well in other parts of the country. Check out their Election Central section on their website www.vineyardvines.com.

Some ideas for women are: a knee length skirt with blouse and blazer, a pant suit, some nice slacks with a cardigan or a blazer, or a sweater dress with tights and heels. You can't go wrong with a cocktail dress! The icing on the cake is always great accessories. A cuff bracelet or cocktail ring will suffice.

May the best person win!
