It may not be over ‘til the fat lady sings, but it won’t even start unless you have the perfect outfit! If you go to opening night of the opera, plan on dressing to the nines. This is by far the most formal night of the opera. The other nights are not as formal, but the opera is a great excuse to dress-up. Go on, and do it! This is also the perfect night to wear your family jewels or your favorite, fancy costume jewelry.
You can’t go wrong with a nice pair of slacks or your ever-so-trusty “go- to” dress.
On nights other than the opening, you will see a wide range of attire. Men will don anything from tuxedos to slacks and an oxford shirt.
As we always remind you, don’t forget a sweater or shawl to throw over your shoulders just in case it gets chilly!
