What to Wear to the Gym

The good news about planning your outfit for the gym is that you don’t have to put too much thought into it. It doesn’t have to match, it doesn’t have to be statement making, and you don’t have to worry if it’s wrinkled. Many of us still like to look somewhat cute, though, because we just might have the opportunity to flirt with a hot guy!

Matching your outfit from head to toe looks kinda silly. We’re not on the tennis court and sponsored by Adidas. Don’t wear just a sports bra. You’re not 18 when it was acceptable to flash the mid drift. Exposed belly is not hot. If you’re wearing tight pants, MAKE SURE you don’t have camel toe. Yes, many people at the gym are trying to lose weight, but not from vomiting due to your camel toe.

Make sure you wear something that is comfortable and flexible. Also, pick fabrics that absorb sweat well.

There are a lot of places to shop for gym clothes that are stylish and easier on the wallet. Stores like Famous Footwear and online stores like eastbay.com are great places for finding all the latest and greatest shoes for prices you can swallow. Try on a couple pairs and walk around the store to make sure they feel good. Pick up some ankle socks while there!

For athletic wear, find a brand you like and stick with it. Stores like Sports Authority and Dick’s have a wide selection and employees to help answer questions and guide you in the right collection.

Working out is supposed to make you feel good, and feeling good often starts with your outfit! Well, in Wardrobe Wire world anyway.
