The first thing to remember about hockey is it is played on ice. Seems obvious, but this means, the same arena you were in a few weeks ago for a concert will be much cooler for a hockey game! Wardrobe Wire never wants anyone to be ill prepared and look a fool, so we’ve broken down three locations where you may attend a hockey game to provide you with general temps and how to dress. Check out pictures in the gallery for inspiration!
Arena: This is where the pros play! The temperature inside an arena will typically be in the mid 60’s. However, the better seats you have, meaning the closer you are to the ice, the colder it will be. Everyone we asked on the street said to wear a jersey supporting your team, but Wardrobe Wire girls are not really jersey condoning people. That material!!! Ugh! We prefer a sweater or zip up hoodie in your teams color with your fave pair of butt hugging jeans (NO true religion!) and some flat boots or sneaks. Feel free to accessorize with a scarf, or even a cute knit hat. Wear a bag with a long strap that you can cross over your body, something small that can hold your money, ID, and lip gloss. That arena floor is NOT clean, and you don’t want your designer bag on the ground!
Rink: This is where your boyfriend plays. Ever wonder why his butt is so freaking perfect? It’s the skating! If you are looking for a reason to love this sport, his tight butt is the reason. Hockey players are HOT. (Well, when they’re not pro and missing half their teeth). Ice rinks are not as warm and cozy as an arena. Temperatures in a rink will be in the 40’s. Yep, 40’s! Wear jeans, a long sleeve shirt, sweater, and a wool coat! You want to look cute! If you even get invited to this game, you better impress your man’s hockey buddies. Don’t expect to be invited back if you show up looking like an idiot in a dress and heels. You need to look like you can hang with the boys at the bar afterwards.
Outdoors: If you live in a state where it’s cold enough for outdoor hockey games, well then you know how freaking cold it is! All I can say is you must be in love! Temperatures will generally be below freezing with a high in the 40’s. You are not protected by a building, so it could be windy, snowing, sunny…who knows! Check the weather, and dress for it! Bring hot cocoa, hand & feet warmers, a blanket, scarf, hat, and gloves.
