Wardrobe Wire went horseback riding yesterday, and we loved it! Our favorite was when we talked our guide into letting us make our horses go fast - ride 'em cowboy!!!
So...what to wear horseback riding? First of all, I would highly recommend jeans. Although shorts are ok, you are more likely to get blisters from the saddle and scratches from any trees or plants your horse decides to take you through. Closed toe shoes are also recommended. Cowboy boots are certainly appropriate, but not necessary. I wore my TOMS while other rides were in socks and tennis shoes. As for shirts, dress for the weather. If it's summer and 100 degrees out, you can absolutely wear a t-shirt or tank top. If the weather is cooler, wear a button down, sweater, jacket...whatever you need to stay warm. You can, of course, add a fun cowboy hat, fedora, or even a plain baseball cap to keep the sun out of your face.
