When attending a rodeo, finding out the right thing to wear all depends on what type of rodeo you are going to. From National Rodeo Finals in Vegas to your backwoods rodeo in a small town, you always want to look your best and feel like you belong. That said, it’s not necessary to dress as if you just stepped off a horse. Keeping your own personal style is important and will separate you from the bunch. No one wants to look like every other person. Individuality is important!
Typically, women can be found in a pair of jeans (Miss Me is a popular brand amongst rodeo goers), cowboy boots, a plain fitted tee shirt or tank top, some western inspired jewelry, and a big belt with a big buckle. Wear your hair down with big curls or underneath a cowboy hat with loose pigtail braids. For those that are a little more risky, go for a prairie top or long skirt. You could also use Ralph Lauren’s western themed collections for inspiration and then find cheaper alternatives in your closet or elsewhere. Since you might get dirty, your Sunday’s finest or designer clothes should probably stay in your closet.
Men are pretty simple. You can’t go wrong with a pair of nice cinch blue jeans and a button down shirt. Roll the sleeves up to add a studly touch. Add a cow hair belt with conchos and a nice big buckle. A cowboy hat is a must! Leave your vest at home, unless you ride rough stock. No spurs on your boots unless you just got off your horse from gathering cows.
No khakis and polos, sandals, or short dresses with cowboy boots (you don’t want to be THAT girl who is trying too hard to get laid).
Square toe boots are definitely trendy in the rodeo world!
Feeling comfortable is key and having a great time with a smile on your face will pull off any rodeo look.
Saddle up and giddy up!
