What to Wear on Mardis Gras

Clip This

Laissez les bons temps rouler (let the good times roll) is the slogan for this lovely celebration named Mardis Gras.

Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday." The term refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season begins the next day, Ash Wednesday.

What shall you wear? If you’re actually going to a Mardis Gras parade, in New Orleans for example, you will want to check the weather before hand. Spring can bring showers, so plan accordingly. Comfortable walking shoes are a MUST! If you plan to be on your feet a lot, get the Friction Block Stick from Band-Aid. It works WONDERS protecting your feet from rubbing and blisters. That said, it’s always wise to put a couple band-aids in your purse, just in case.

Many people wear hats to protect them from the sun, but some parade goers throw necklaces, their bra, and other goodies on them. A panama jack hat is a common style of hat to be seen. Many people will wear masks, paint, and other crazy costumes. Wardrobe Wire girls don’t play that, though!

Don’t forget sunscreen and a hair tie in case you feel the need to pull your hair back.
