For court appearances, make sure you look as clean cut and pulled together as ever! Do not wear your daily wear, so no jeans, sports team apparel, or anything too revealing and flashy. Instead, go with something that you’d wear to the office or professional environments. Court is conservative! Stay away from anything too flashy or in-your-face. If the judge thinks you're rolling in the cash, he may not lean in your favor. That said, don't go into court overacting or trying too hard to look pitiful. Judges see that all the time, and Your Honor will think you're lying. You want him to trust you! Don't be arrogant, either.
For women, a pant suit is ideal. No micro minis or cleavage!
Men, you should wear a sports coat and nice pants, or a suit and tie. Since we rarely go to court without some type of trouble, a professional and pulled together look is key. You’ll also want to avoid wearing anything that is too chic. This is one environment where you’ll want to be taken seriously.
