What to Wear When Depressed

Clip This

We all get down in the dumps because of many factors in life that we can't change or fix. There are a lot of things we can change, though. Taking baby steps, a little each day, are exactly what we need to make progress in life. One of the easiest things you can change is your outfit.

Contrary to popular belief, fashion and clothes are not always pretentious and superficial. What we wear can invoke powerful feelings. For example, after a hard and stressful day at work, sometimes we put on sweat pants to finally relax, feel comfortable, and unconstrained. It works, am I wrong?

Fashion is art and can make you feel good things just like how a book, a beautiful picture, movie, or painting can. Your clothes don’t have to be name brand or expensive to make you feel that extra little boost.

Everyone has a certain color or outfit in their closet that they KNOW makes them look good and feel confident. When feeling the urge to add to your wardrobe, buy things in that color(s) and/or style(s). Know what works for you and work it!

Often, a depressed person begins to slack on their personal hygiene and appearance. This is a sign friends can look out for, FYI. It’s hard to get out of a funk, but it’s NOT hard to take warm showers or baths, slather your body in soap, lotions, or potions, and get dressed in things that make you feel pretty. Depression is a great excuse to pamper yourself and be a little selfish.

Change your outfit, change your mood!
