Typically, what you’d wear to a baptism is similar to what you’d wear to a religious service. It’s a conservative place. Stay away from short dresses and skirts and anything that’s too bold, bright, clingy, casual or revealing! You’ll more than likely have a brunch or lunch following the service, so consider something that’s comfortable or easy to move about in as you may be mingling.
For ladies, a pretty dress or skirt and slacks with a nice top should work for most services. Keep heel heights respectable – this is no place for five inch stilettos! For men, a nice pair of khakis or slacks with a polo shirt or button up should be appropriate. Be sure to pay attention to what the invitation calls, as some baptisms are very formal and suits may be required.
Don’t forget a camera and a bit of tissue in your purse or coat for pictures or tears! Be sure to put your cell phone on silent or vibrate before you go in, as you don’t want to disrupt the service.
