Dancing/clubbing is a fun activity! During a night on the town, you get to let loose and enjoy yourself, therefore your clothing should reflect that. This is a time when your own personal style is key, so being comfortable and happy in what you are wearing is most important. Before you begin tearing apart your wardrobe, do your research! Find out if the venue you are going to is casual or upscale and if it’s a lounge or a club. This will help to narrow down your options. Lounges are smaller, more intimate venues that are often on the upscale side. Therefore, you will want to dress in a more polished, yet stylish manner. Clubs are often bigger and more crowded venues that have huge dance floors and can accommodate more people. It is quite possible to find a drink or two spilled on you (and a toe or two stepped on!). Therefore, it is not necessary to wear your most expensive outfits and shoes.
What to wear for women: If you are going to a lounge, bring out your best pair of shoes (designer, sexy, etc) and handbags. Pair them with a gorgeous dress that makes you feel comfortable (nothing too fancy) or try a sleek pair of jeans or trendy slacks and a stylish top. Top it off with your favorite pieces of jewelry and a fantastic coat (if it is cold). If you are going to a club, leave your most expensive shoes and handbags at home. Although clubs are fun, it is often where people find themselves victims of theft or accidental drink spills because of the crowded venue. Therefore, leave those worries behind and feel confident that you won’t ruin your favorite pair of shoes, and if you set your handbag down at the bar and misplace it 3 tequila shots later, you won’t be too upset! Clubs are trendy and often the venue where people express themselves and are very creative with their style. Don’t be afraid to test out a particular trend you’ve been wanting to wear, and simply just go for it! Dresses, skirts, pants, whatever it is, make sure you feel sexy and beautiful and that your look reflects your own personal style.
What to wear for men: If you are going to a lounge, and are a more classic man, a simple pair of slacks or designer jeans and nice dress shoes with a dark button up collared shirt will work great. If you are more on the trendy side, try a blazer with a collared shirt or plain t-shirt underneath and jeans. If you are really dressing to impress, try adding a skinny tie or bow tie and skinny or slim fit black jeans. If you are going to a club, you can wear the same things as you would a lounge, but you do not have to be as dressy. Clubs are more casual - just remember do not wear tennis shoes. Although some venues allow it, many don’t, so save yourself the trouble of getting turned away at the door and dress appropriately.
