You’ve decided to let your friends set you up on a blind date. You’re staying strong and not going to stalk them online to see if they meet your physical requirements for a partner. Proud of you!
What shall you wear?
If you are meeting the person during the day, be sure to check weather and venue first. You don’t want to go too sexy on a blind date, because if the person is unattractive, you might get grossed out by them looking down your shirt and/or up your dress or skirt. Wear something that makes you feel comfortable, but always make you look good, too. If you’re meeting for coffee, it’s ok to wear your favorite denim. Pair it with a tank or a fitted long sleeved shirt (if it’s colder) and a cardi wrap over it. Sundresses are a good option, too, as long as you don’t have to worry about it revealing sweat marks. Go lighter on the make-up during a day date.
If you are meeting the person at night, check the weather and venue first. Step it up a little more for a dinner or happy hour blind date. You can wear a little heavier make-up for an evening date than you would a day date. Just make sure that the make-up is blended and evenly applied. No one wants to feel like they are on a date with a clown. Your LBD is a no fail, but feel free to step out of the comfort zone. A nice fitted black slack or skirt with tights, a silk cami, and a pair of killer heels will have your date thinking you’re classy and sexy.
Men:
Try to avoid anything too obnoxious on a first date, especially a blind date! No wild prints, disco shirts, graffiti shirts with sayings, rhinestone encrusted butt pockets, and logos plastered all over your shirt. If you go with one of these options, you will certainly get the door slammed in your face.
Dark denim, a pair of polished brogues, colorful striped or argyle socks, a belt, and a nice button up, vest, sweater, or designer shirt are all safe, non-offensive options.
