What to Wear to the Fair or an Amusement Park

Share Clip This

If there’s one place where anything goes, it’s here! Whatever you want to wear should be fine – anything that you don’t want getting wet or dirty!

For ladies or men, jeans or shorts and a t-shirt or basic cotton top, and maybe a sweatshirt tied around your waist in case it gets chilly are all you’ll more than likely need. You’ll probably want to wear socks and tennis shoes since you’ll be doing a great deal of walking, especially since some fairs are held on grassy lots or lawns versus pavement. We don’t recommend your brand new white pair! Flip flops or a comfortable flat leather sandal can also work but again, your shoes (and therefore, your feet) might get very dirty. Women can get away with wearing easy cotton or linen dresses but be mindful of the length! You don’t want to be tugging at a mini dress or short skirt here!

We don’t recommend wearing your finest jewelry or designer handbag, though you may want to have your hands free by carrying a shoulder bag. NO FANNY PACKS! A fun wristette is a better choice instead!
Don’t forget sunscreen or lip balm because most parks and fairgrounds offer limited shade. You’ll want to bring a lightweight sweater or coat if you’re staying through the evening in case temperatures get chilly.

I like to dress comfortably knowing that I'll be doing a lot of walking and hollering on the rides.
