What to Wear, Where to go, and How to Land a Military Man

Clip This

DISCLAIMER: This article is meant to be taken lightheartedly.  The wife of a military man wrote it while her husband was deployed and was seeking a creative outlet.

Wardrobe Wire is doing a series on husband hunting. We are breaking it down daily by the type of man you desire. We will advise you on what to wear, anticipate, and where to go in search of your Mr.Wonderful. If you are interested in landing a billionaire, professional athlete, movie star, CEO, politician, or artist, click here.

So, you want to land a Military Man? If you're anything like us, you're attracted to men who carry guns and roll around in mud wearing camouflage. Who doesn’t love a man in uniform?

You have to be a REALLY strong and independent woman to be with this guy. He can be deployed for up to a year at a time. You might have to raise kids as a single mom during this time. There is also the fear of him never coming back. Wardrobe Wire chooses not to focus on that thought, though! Let's focus on landing you an Officer (preferably a highly decorated 4 Star General, but baby steps, my little grasshoppers)!

The wife of a Marine told us that she was wearing jeans with holes and a baseball cap when she first caught the eye of her soldier. Oddly enough, another woman we know said the same thing! This woman actually met her Marine at a baseball game. FYI, he is now a Lt. Colonel.

If you want to meet a military man, you should go to the closest, most laid-back bar within a 25 mile radius of any base (this was advice given to us from an actual Marine). Buy him an alcoholic beverage, and soon you will be caressing his perfectly toned body.

If you have any friends that are married to a man in the military, kindly ask them to set you up on a date. Try attending events like fleet week (remember that episode from “Sex and the City”). Also, try to volunteer for activities on base. Also, GET THIS: there are even online dating websites such as www.militarydate.com that will set you up with your highly decorated man in uniform! Fun!

Look feminine and flirty when hunting for a man in the Armed Forces. He is around stinky, dirty, camouflage clothed, testosterone filled, and hairy men all the time. He wants to enjoy the touch, softness, and scent of a woman. Put on a dress with lace panties underneath. Let him admire your legs, and make his imagination run wild. If your “twins” are your best asset, wear something low cut. All that aside, he wants a woman that is going to be strong, supportive, and positive in order for him to marry her. So, the best asset you can bring is a good attitude, big smile, and some shiny, soft lips for him to kiss. Check out our gallery for outfit ideas!

We apologize for the way this article has made you feel - it was never intended to "degrade" the life of a military wife. It was written BY a military wife while her husband was deployed and yes,it was meant to be lighthearted. We all have major struggles in our lives and I personally would not have been able survive mine without some laughter! We appreciate you voicing your opinion, but know that we always support our military and can't thank your husbands enough for risking their lives for our freedom everyday.

This article was intended to let women know not only what to wear to pick up a man in uniform but what it will be like to be married to one. It's awesome they’ve pointed out about being a single mom... Let women know this job isn’t for the weary. It's rough sometimes. Also very funny that one of you find it discussing that they encourage women to put their best asset forward to entice a military man, and I quote “So, the best asset you can bring is a good attitude, big smile, and some shiny, soft lips for him to kiss.” You don’t think it’s a good idea for women to act this way. In my opinion more man, any type of man, for that matter find these things more attractive than any other attribute of a women.
Yes you get free housing... Kinda, but other men's or women's pay in their jobs will reflect that too, if you live on base you don't see your husbands BAH(Basic Housing Allowance) so you dint realize their full salary. The housing really isn’t “free”. Driving by and thinking about what house you'll live in, who doesn't dream about their first house with their husband! The first weekend my husband and I dated we went looking at model homes!
This article never says find a military man, love him, marry him, and leave him during his first deployment. It says you must be a strong women to survive,

I'm a wife of a marine ... You think you have it hard because you didn’t have a honey moon or he has been gone half the time you've been married... Well you knew that was the life before you married him so don’t complain about it... We all know how it is. I'll give you something to complain about, but ask any of my friends and family if I did!! I had a 4 month old son, got diagnosed with cancer in November. Found out I was pregnant while undergoing chemotherapy I March and in April before finishing treatment my husband deployed to the front lines of Afghanistan. I finished chemo a week after he left had our daughter in August. Started radiation therapy October 1 and ended 1 day shy of my husbands homecoming. Could I have held him back from deployment... Yes I could have but did I no! Because this is his job! This is what he is trained for. I held my head high during my fight while he was also fighting! I’m not complaining, I’m just stating the facts and letting you know that some people have it worse than just missing a honey moon or day to day interactions.

I am thankful for articles like these to warn women that this isn't the role of thin skinned women.. being the wife of a Marine!
Thank you Wardrode Wire for making others aware and for letting women know not only what to wear to attract a hot military man but the guts it takes to marry a man in uniform, stand beside him and be proud of this country!

You all need to re-read and re-think the real meaning of this article and what Wardrode Wire is really saying.

The wife of a military man wrote this and she intended for it to be taken lightheartedly as her husband was deployed at the time, she was pregnant, had a toddler, just learned she had cancer and she was seeking a creative outlet. I understand your anger though. So sorry to have upset you. I'm certain her intentions were not meant to offend. Thank you for the note, though.

This is the most disgusting thing I have ever read! I'm in a relationship with a military man, and this article completely degrades that!!! You are encouraging the type of women that marry military men, and then take everything and ditch them during their first deployment! This is article, and more than likely series of articles, is completely degrading, disgusting, and you should be ashamed of yourself. Congratulations, you have pissed off all military spouses/girlfriends and effectively pushed all women back to the 1940s when all we were expected to do was find a man.

I am beyond disgusted that you believe the life of a military wife is as glamours as you make it sound. I am married to a man in the military and have been for 10 months and I have only been around him for four of those. We will miss our one year anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines day, and just day to day interaction between one another that so many newly weds get to experience. It was due to the military that we did not go on a honeymoon or be able to have a year to plan our wedding. We cannot have a child on our schedule, but instead when the military allows him to be home. No one should ever consider the "benefits" of a good job as a reason to marry someone. This article was written for all the women looking for a contract marriage just to make some money and get out later. I am appalled and offended at how heartless this article is to all the men and women in uniform, their spouses and just women in general. You should be ashamed of yourself. This article maybe trying to attempt at being light-hearted, but there is nothing light-hearted about marrying a man who dodges bullets and bombs for a living.

I think it is disgusting how simple you think military men are or how you encourage women to put their best assets out to entice them. Military benefits are not to be looked upon as the perks of marriage. However you mention raising your children alone as they deploy as something you are not going to focus on, how about you do!!! Because as glamourous as you make it sound, it takes a lot of sacrifice from the wives to live a life like that. One that a woman simply looking for more money, living on base for free, free plastic surgery, or duty free grocery and gas couldn't handle.
