The Question

I am from Seattle and going to Scottsdale Dec 1st thru Mar 31st and need to know what kind of clothing to take. I have lots of winter clothes from living in Seattle and know the average high of 68 and low of 43 for Scottsdale, but don't understand which of my fall and winter type clothes to take. Would light weight wool pants and light sweaters be best, or more cotton pants, and cooler silk tops be preferable. I will be working from my condo and going out some to dinner, etc., mostly casual stuff. I am a writer and artist and am 63 years old.

December through early March in Scottsdale can be quite chilly, despite sunny days. A wool pant or jean with a sweater is recommended. It starts to warm up in mid March when baseball spring training begins. Much of your Seattle attire will work for December through February. Layering is key as the mornings can be very cold and then warm up a little in the day, but still not cotton pant or silk top friendly. Here is a great article on how to layer like a New Yorker: http://www.wardrobewire.com/channel/stylist/article/how-wear/new-york-ci...

Don't be fooled, be prepared for sweater and boot weather in the winter months! Let us know if you have any more questions.
