I have to attend an evening, post conference/event cocktail mixer for business. The crowd will be a lot of CEOs, executives, etc. at an upscale hotel resort. It'll need to be conservative and classy but I want to look pretty too. What should I wear? I don't want to spend a lot if i can help it.
Yes I do have a few suggestions.... Club Monaco, Banana Republic, DKNY, Theory, any major department store, etc. etc.

Wear a sleek cocktail dress (see dress code glossary-cocktail). Stay away from bright or loud colors and cotton or jersey materials.

Do you have a flowy skirt and a sleeveless blouse? just toss on some heels and you're good to go.
They say, "if you got it flaunt it". If you are one of the lucky ones that has a great pair of stems, show them off with a skirt and some heels. Maybe on top try a lace top or blouse that you can button down a little and give the men something to wonder about. If you don't have a tan, maybe polish up your legs with some bronzer or shimmer lotion.
Wear your hair down and be sure to dress up your eyes with some shadow, liner and mascara. Try putting on a little extra blush for a flirty, sun kissed look. I would do dark eyes and light gloss on the lips.
