The Question

Help! I've waited until the last minute and need help with a semi-formal dress. Here's the catch: Going to be in NYC , outside by the water and in the evening. I'm looking for something very stylish but something that will keep me somewhat warm. Evenings will be cool this time of year. Thanks gals!

I think a sequin dress with a blazer would be a great look! If you are still worried about the length of the dress and/or it is chillier than expected, consider wearing a thin black legging or stirrup under the dress instead of tights. Confidence is a MUST when looking good. If you're going to be walking a TON, in my opinion, strappy shoes can get uncomfortable. An open-toe platform heal would be another good option.

I've attached some shoe options. They are both from Nordstrom and under $100! Click on the link under the photo to purchase.

PLEASE send us pics! We love to see how our readers pull off their look!

I love sequins and they are now acceptable for daytime, as well. Coupled with a blazer= easy transition from day to night. You will NOT pull a Brit or LeLo. They are walking social faux pas! Feel free to take a pic and send it to us! Do you own comfortable shoes or do you need to buy a pair? An open toed strappy heel would look hot. I would definitely recommend an open toe shoe. A closed toe shoe would not look right with a sequin tank dress.

Here are some ideas:

Wardrobe Wire

Thanks , chicas! I love all the dresses! I worry about the tightness of the dresses as I do not have bird legs :) What do you guys think of a black tank sequin mini dress with a black blazer? (The one thing I worry about with this choice, is pulling a "Brittany or a Lindsey" ) I forgot to mention that this is a work gala event which will start at about 4:30 and go late into the evening. They also told us that there would be alot of walking around. If you like the idea of the sequin dress, any ideas for shoes that will not kill my tootsies?

I agree with Paige, long sleeve dresses are THE thing to wear right now! Black is super chic, especially for a wedding in NYC, but since it's on the water, you can also think nautical and go with something red or navy blue. I've attached pictures of an Antik Batik navy blue cashmere dress from NetaPorter.com that is tres tres sexy! It has an open back, so bring a pashmena or wear a silk blazer. You can always wear tights if you are stilled worried about being chilly. If all else fails, just be a Wardrobe Wire girl and OWN the dance floor! You'll be warm in no time!

Lucky for you dresses with long sleeves are very in style! Also, lucky for you, so are cardigans and pashminas. I have attached a long sleeve, black and lace dress by Guess that is $138.00 and can be purchased here: http://tinyurl.com/2bzd5t2

Pair it with some black heels!
