Their website says, “Melanie Fraser Hart and William Calvert are from similar traditional backgrounds but their current partnership is an amalgamation of knowledge and expertise meeting with a lifelong passion for art, design and fashion.” Amalgamation?!?! Damn, I need to use that word!
But anyways, here’s the scoop on both.
Melanie Fraser Hart is a chick with some clout when it comes to climbing a career ladder. The woman basically teleported to the top, when upon graduating college, moved to LA to work with producer Arnold Kopelson and became Vice President of Creative Affairs within three months! She then went on to be Vidal Sassoon’s right hand woman, and finally continued on to Blum and Poe Gallery in Los Angeles.
Going back to her high school dream of being a part of fashion, she wanted to bring a line to the fashion industry that could take a woman “from desk to dinner.”
William Calvert: The Haute Couture designer whose own brand was launched in 1998, honed his skills by working with such greats as Balenciaga, Pierre Balmain, and Rochas. He also developed for Diane von Furstenber and consulted for Perry Ellis Women’s Coats.
Together, these two have formed Callula Lillibelle. Launching their first collection in Fall/Winter 2010 based on the concept of “Madmen meets 2010/2011.” Creating clothes that make a woman proud to dress her curves, they were inspired by Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Tippi Hedren, and Betty Page. Sex, class, style, and va va voom all rolled into one!
We likey!
