Sometimes you’re friends know what’s best and that seems to have been the case for Rebecca Minkoff. Of course, her friend is famous and was on a popular TV Show at the time. San Diego cutie, Minkoff, started her venture into fashion in 2001 with a women’s Ready to Wear collection. In 2004, her good friend Jenna Elfman asked Rebecca to design a handbag for her next movie. Rebecca, never having designed a handbag before, said no problem! Sewing since she was 8, Rebecca figured it out and in about 2 weeks the Morning After Bag was born. Hallelujah! The MAB became an overnight sensation and remains one of her top sellers still today.
Rebecca Minkoff is a favorite of celebrity fashionistas such as Rachel Bilson, Lauren Conrad, Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Jamie Lynn Sigler, and many, many more! With bag names such as Lover’s Clutch, Morning After Mini, Knocked Up, and Fling Minaudieres – you would think you’re talking about one of these celebrities’ lives!
Recently, Rebecca stated in an interview on Good Morning America that she was inspired by Rock ‘n Roll for Fall 2009 and said that anything with embellishments such as studs, zippers, and grommets are in. According to her website, Rebecca says she designs for “confident ladies who like to have fun and wear their heart on their sleeve (and a bag on their arm)”. Sounds like a Wardrobe Wire girl!
My favorite looks of hers besides the Morning After Bag for this Fall/Winter are the 3-Zip Rocker $195, Stud Rocker $330, Triple Chain Clutch $355, Lover’s Clutch $295, and the Knocked Up $695. I know, that’s a lot of favorites, but I couldn’t pick just one or two! I also love her Minkette Pouches with sayings like “Gas Money” and “Double-Tall Non-Fat-Decaf Latte-Fund” for $60 a piece. So, where can you find these super It bags? The Rebecca Minkoff handbag collection can be found at major department stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman’s, and Saks, as well as online at www.shopbop.com.
Rebecca’s bags are amazing. They are comfortable, casual, sexy, sophisticated, and fun all in one. She has a bright future ahead of her, especially because she hasn’t even hit 30 yet!!
She recently re-launched her clothing line and will be showing at Fashion Week this September! If you’re going to be in NY for fashion week, you can meet her at Bloomingdale’s on 59th Street for Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th at 6pm. She is also having appearances at Roosevelt Field on September 11th, 12-3pm and SOHO on September 12th 2-5pm.
