Whitley Kros
Whitley Kros is a fictional character (and name of the brand) thought up by designers Marissa Rabisi (of Dazed & confused fame) and Sophia Coloma. Whitley is a “free-spirited traveler” and her travels inspire each season’s collection. The line was launched in October 2007 and celebrities quickly became fans of the printed tees and flowy silk tops. Their designs have been spotted on Kate Hudson, Courtney Cox-Arquette, Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, and Juliette Lewis. Their collections are fun, flirty, and young with jumpsuits, rompers, silk pants/dresses, and jeans. Their printed tees are one of the biggest hits with the Hollywood crowd and some of the artwork for their famous t-shirts is done by Marissa’s husband, musician Beck. Their website is a blast and connects with Whitley’s carefree spirit. Their collections never fail to have fun prints and punches of bright color and although the designers say Whitley’s travels inspire them every season, it’s hard to escape the California feel so present in each collection. But I’m not complaining I’m always down for a cool, casual look to romp around town in.
From what I can tell, it looks like they haven’t made it to fashion week this past year. Like many new designers, they probably had to make the decision to cut that cost. However – you can see past fashion shows from Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week on their website. I, for one, look forward to seeing them back on the runway!!
