My mom always told me, “Put a hat on! If your head is warmer, you’re whole body will be warmer!” I don’t know if that’s proven, or if that was just her way of making me put a winter hat on during my teenage years. Either way, I hate being cold, so I guess she knew how to get to me!
The Hijab is worn by Muslim women to cover their head and sometimes their face to maintain a sense of modesty. Head wraps or head scarves, styled similarly to the Hijab, were all over the fall runways. We, at Wardrobe Wire, are officially on board with this trend for winter. Not only do we think a little modesty goes a long way, but we also like to be warm and cozy all winter long, and we can’t wait to rock this style!
How to Wear Your Head Scarf:
You can take a pashmena style scarf or wide winter scarf and drape it over your head, leaving one side longer than the other. Take the shorter side and throw it over the opposite shoulder, under the longer layer of fabric. Take the longer layer and wrap it completely around your neck and let the remaining fabric hang down.
You can also take the center of the scarf and place it across your forehead, collecting and securing the remaining fabric in the back or on the side. You can secure the fabric with a vintage broach or pretty pin.
Once you get the hang of it – just play with it and be creative. Find different lengths and different fun ways to style it. Think about adding a broach or pretty pin to any way that you style it to fasten it all together, or use it to just fasten one side to the other for a quicker look.
If the total hijab look is not for you, and you want to try something a little simpler – I would recommend an eternity scarf. This is a scarf that is sewed together to make one full circle. Instead of draping it around your neck – drape it around your head!
