Founder of TOMS Shoes, Blake Mycoskie, was our guest speaker at the Wardrobe Wire launch party in Los Angeles, CA. One of the goals of the event was to show that fashion is not always superficial. In fact, many indigenous villages around the world sell their handmade designs as a form of economic growth and sustainability. We were very honored to have Blake help us kick off the launch of Wardrobe Wire. All the single ladies were entertaining to watch as they tried flirting their way in to his address book. Can't blame a girl for trying!
A while back we told you about the late Dan Eldon. I met Dan’s mother, Kathy, and sister, Amy, when I first moved to Los Angeles, CA. They have been mentors ever since and even tolerated me during my unstable years in which I was aimlessly wandering the earth (don’t act like you didn’t go through that phase in your 20’s too!).
Dan Eldon was a photojournalist for Reuters that was stoned to death in Somolia in 1993. Behind he left amazing journals of art in which Kathy and Amy have exhibited around the world. Dan continues to change lives from beyond the grave.
So how are these two young studs connected? Mycoskie, moved by Dan’s art, has designed brightly colored African-inspired prints for the TOMS Shoes Spring collection to monumentalize Dan’s vision.
We will let you know when the shoes hit the mainstream!
