Dating back to 1893, Webster’s Dictionary defines a house dress as: a dress with simple lines that is suitable for housework and is made usually of a washable fabric.
The 1940’s are making a comeback and often ladies back then would wear house dresses. Lets face it, if we’re forced to do house hold chores…. we may as well wear a dress doing so! Move over June Clever! House dresses often button in the front or wrap a la Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress, and usually have pockets (so you can keep your phone in it and check Wardrobe Wire every minute while pretending to work).
If you are going to try and rock the house dress, please avoid buying one that looks like a muu muu for that is a no no.
