As you know, from reading Wardrobe Wire, pant suits and androgyny are a popular trend. The pant suits being shown for Resort and Spring 2011 are wide and fluid in shape, often made of vicose/spandex combinations. They are also showing cropped pants with jackets that have a bit of a tail.
Often the pants are paired with more of a form fitting, short jacket in the same color. Be daring and wear nothing under the jacket (button it, of course, so not to get kicked out of anywhere) or perhaps just a lace, nude cami or collared sirt underneath. The great thing is that you can mix and match your pant suit a million different ways. Wear the pants with a blouse, sweater, or tank sans the jacket. Wear the jacket casually with jeans.
Pant suits are a great alternative to a dress or skirt and the new styles are much more dressy than the typical suit you’d wear to work.
Designers that really emphasized this look on their runways included: Donna Karan, Akris, Chado Ralph Rucci, Givenchy, and many many others.
