Starting to get bored with your wardrobe? Well, adding some SHINE AND SHIMMER to your closet is the perfect thing to do this spring! Designers like Costume National, Elise Øverland, MaxMara, Rag and Bone, and one of my favorite designers, Stella McCartney, have lots of shine and shimmer in their Spring 2010 collections.
A shimmer blazer can work well as a style choice for anyone, but if you choose to wear shimmer in a pant or skirt you have to pay attention to your body type. If you’re plus size, or have fuller hips or butt shimmer pants would not be a good style choice for you. Wearing a flowing A line skirt, dress, or blazer in shimmer would look great on a fuller body type because it does not isolate problem areas. Mixing shimmer with fabrics that have little sheen, like rayon and cotton blends is a perfect way to balance the shine.
Shimmer is good, but too much of anything can be overwhelming. A petite woman who wants to wear this look should choose one place to wear it. American Apparel has a great pair of shimmer opaque tights for $20.00. Shimmer tights would be a great choice for a petite woman because they will not overpower her small frame.
Even men can have a little bit of shimmer in there wardrobe. Seen in the Rag and Bone Spring collection are shimmer pants in a fabric with less sheen than you would find in woman’s apparel; Paired with leather shoes, belt and jacket this is a great look for the fashion forward man.
A shimmer dress is perfect for a Valentine’s Day date, or for you single ladies, a night out with the girls! To find the perfect shimmer for your closet visit you local New York & Company, JCPenney, Chico’s or Barney’s.
Wear it with style!
