If you are wondering what the fabric of the fall season is, well, my love, it’s leather! Leather skirts, dresses, leggings, jackets, and boots. Jackets and boots are pretty expected, but, skirts, dresses, and leggings are hot right now and you’ve gotta own it if you’re gonna wear ‘em. Celebs like Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Victoria Beckham, Rihanna, Fergie, and Nicky Hilton have already been seen rocking the leather look and I know as soon as the weather cools a bit more, everyone will be hitting the streets in it. I am not talking about that shiny leather of the past. Don’t think cat woman and don’t think pleather or liquid leather! The leather of the season is a more matte and versatile version than that of the eighties or trends past.
How To Wear the Look: You need to be pretty slim to pull off the skirts, dresses, and leggings, as they are tight and tiny! So either hit the gym or keep the leather just on top. A cropped leather jacket, vest or bustier will fit any body type and of course, anyone can wear leather boots. I love the leather leggings look with some super high heels, a classic tee, and a boyfriend blazer. To avoid looking like you’re working the corner, pair the skirt with a softer look on top. Think a super soft tank layered under a cashmere sweater and some lace up stilettos. This season’s leather jackets and vests pair perfectly with the season’s distressed denim. The hottest leather boots of the season? Thigh high! Switch it up and wear them with a floral dress. You’ll throw people off and look hot as hell, yet still approachable. Do not go head to toe leather! You have to pick either top or bottom and wherever the leather isn’t, keep it classic and soft.
