Zippers are in for Fall/Winter 2009. I’m not talking about the functional aspect of zippers like zipping up your pants (although that’s always in too); I’m talking about the embellishment aspect. Zippers add a little edge, a little rock and roll, to everything. And who doesn’t need a little rock and roll in their lives every now and then? Zippers have been seen on Leighton Meester, Victoria Beckham, Halle Berry, and Nicky Hilton. Although it seems this trend is dominating women’s collection’s it is also for men, although they don’t have as many options.
Exposed zippers are showing up all over the Fall/Winter runways. William Rast had them all over their jeans and jackets and Miss Sixty rocked them out as well. Vena Cava, Roland Mouret, Alexander Wang, Nicole Miller, and on and on. I’m telling you – all over the runway. When it comes to the men, zippers are mostly found on leather and denim jackets this fall, but when it comes to women, they are all over jeans, leggings, dresses, jackets, bags, and shoes. Because you can find them on so many different items for women, body type really isn’t an issue. If you don’t feel comfortable zipping yourself into a pair of skinny stonewashed denim with multiple zippers at the pockets or on the ankles, get a handbag or a pair of shoes! I also absolutely love an exposed zipper on the back of a dress. I think it adds a nice surprise and it doesn’t matter what size you are to wear that trend. Just wear the right size for you.

You can literally find jackets and denim every where from Target to Urban Outfitters to Nordstrom to designer boutiques. So pick up the girls and head out. This is one trend anyone can wear and anyone can afford. Yeah for that!
