EXCLUSIVE Interview With Stylish Female CEO

Clip This

Maryse Thomas is Superwoman. Lets see... she has been a professional tennis player, a sports agent, she is a gourmet cook, film producer, flies planes, dresses fly and is a BABE. Oh, did we mention she is the Founder and CEO of a BRILLIANT software company called POKEWARE. What is best about Maryse Thomas? She LOVES to see people succeed by living their dreams and reaching their goals, thus she is always doing what she can to aid in these efforts. We love you, Maryse!

Wardrobe Wire: As a founder and CEO of a software company, we imagine you work long and late hours. How do you keep from actually LOOKING that you work that much?

Maryse Thomas: There’s not much one can do to prevent from looking as if they don’t sleep much over an extended period of time.  Fortunately, I don’t get dark circles under my eyes or puffiness.  Here’s what definitely helps when it comes to servicing energy needs.  1.  Exercise-at least 1.5 hours four times a week.  If Barack can do it, so can we.  2.  I don’t follow a fantastic nutrition program, but here’s what I do.  I drink the same thing every morning instead of coffee and it keeps me going almost until dinner.  I juice 1 head of Romaine, 8 stalks of Kale, 2 apples, a peeled lemon and an inch of ginger.  That has changed my life.  3.  A great moisturizer—I am still looking but I’ve been using a big jar of “something” that a friend left at my house and it seems to work.  I am still “moisturizer single” and looking to be set up.

Wardrobe Wire: As we know, often you have to go straight from the office to a hot dinner date with your man. What do you do to spice up and sex up your work look to a sultry look, when you don't have time to go home and change or freshen up?

Maryse Thomas: There are some simple ways to always be ready.  The most important thing is to ALWAYS wear well made and incredibly seductive lingerie.  My favorite is Pleasure State.  It’s beautiful AND incredibly comfortable—which is a high priority when factoring the day to night transition.  http://www.pleasurestate.com  I keep all hygiene products in my desk—toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, travel sizes of all my needs from fragrance to lotion.  I refrain from showing too much skin in the office, but a nighttime, it’s tasteful to expose a little more.  Fitted shift dresses are a perfect for the office and beyond.  They also travel/pack well.  I wear sweaters/blazers over my dresses whilst in the office and discard them when I head out in the evening.  I adore fitted slacks in great fabrics.  For the office, a sweater (always have a few on hand) is fantastic to hide a backless silk shirt or semi-see through blouse.  At nighttime, lose the sweater and let the GROWN AND SEXY out.

Wardrobe Wire: The world traveler that you are, do you have any packing tips or tricks to share with Wardrobe Wire?

Maryse Thomas: I am likely, one if the most efficient people to ever walk the earth with regard to packing.  I can pack a carry-on with enough apparel for three weeks of travel—including, but not limited to, 4 black tie events, workouts, daytime expeditions, meetings, informal dinners and a little romance.

Wardrobe Wire: What is your favorite brand of luggage?

Maryse Thomas: Travel pro.  I have tried everything, from Louis Vuitton to BREE (so cute).  However, when it comes to efficiency and functionality, Travel Pro’s carry-on is perfection.

Wardrobe Wire: What destination in the world resembles your personal style the most?

Maryse Thomas: Mauritius.

Wardrobe Wire: Are there any traditions and/or customs in the world that you would love to see replicated in the USA?

Maryse Thomas: No.  But I would love to be able to fly a Russian fighter in the States.

Wardrobe Wire: What is your favorite occasion to dress for and why?

Maryse Thomas: Halloween.  It’s the one day you can fly your freak flag and get away with it.

Wardrobe Wire: How has your style changed from your 20's to 30's?

Maryse Thomas: I’m wearing more fitted/tailored clothing and I have fully embraced couture.

Wardrobe Wire: Are there any emerging designers you MUST inform the Wardrobe Wire Community about?

Maryse Thomas: YES!  MDLR (Moises De La Renta is brilliant) I also love the silk blouses from Hunter Dixon http://www.hunterdixon.com/collection.html

Wardrobe Wire: What is YOUR definition of a Wardrobe Wire Girl and/or Guy?

Maryse Thomas: Internet savvy, fashion conscious and well travelled.

Wardrobe Wire: What are your tips on dressing stylishly, yet not looking inappropriate in a professional environment?

Maryse Thomas: I was fortunate enough to go to an all-girl school where I often pushed the envelope...WITH MY UNIFORM.  Let’s just say that if you think that you would be called downstairs to the head mistresses office and DISCIPLINED, then you have gone too far with your apparel and makeup.

Wardrobe Wire: Being as professional and successful as you are, what are your favorite relaxing weekend go-to designers and/or looks?

Maryse Thomas: The answer is destination relevant.  I love tennis, so I often choose Nike when I play.  Flying--jeans, T-shirts and my favorite Cartier Aviator sunglasses.  When I stay in to cook--it depends on my dinner guests—so it can range from Jackie O host to some “unmentionables.”

Wardrobe Wire: Other than your Blackberry, what must be in your purse at all times?

Maryse Thomas: Eyedrops (my eyes dry out from being on the computer for long hours), hand lotion, dental floss, lip moisturizer, peppermint gum, business cards, credit cards, petty cash, headset for my blackberry, a nail file and clean and clear oil absorbing sheets in lieu of face powder.
Wardrobe Wire: on your Christmas list this year?

Maryse Thomas: I want a clock with 40 hours in the day.  There never seems to be enough time to accomplish what I set out to do.
