I am hosting a black tie event and need assistance in finding a white double breasted dinner jacket. Budget is between $500-$850. Where can I find a good looking one? Preferably vintage, would you have any suggestions for me?

Thank you all for the help. Paige, I try to be as classy as possible. Thanks for the extra tips, I'll have to go check them out..was hoping for an easy solution, but you can't have those when your looking for something as specific as this. Jessi, in Columbus MS here, hence the vintage jacket in a nice antebellum home would be nice. Sorry about the invites not being extended, y'all don't want to come all the way over here for little ol me right? Thanks again, I'll let you know what I decide!

Although Johnnie certainly got the description of the coat correct, I think the quality is inferior to what you will be needing as the host of the event. Paige is absolutely right, your best bet is to find a men's custom tailor. This way you will be ensured a proper fit. You will be pleasantly surprised at the wide range of prices that a tailor can....well..."tailor" to! You will be able to have a custom fit double breasted coat tailor made FOR YOU anywhere from $400 to $4000. Are you in Arizona??? If you are I can even recommend the shop!

Now, the question of the hour is: Where are Paige and Jessi's invites?!

Btw, you are so CHIC and awesome for wanting a double breasted white dinner jacket. Another idea I had was paying a visit to a local Ralph Lauren store or even Neiman Marcus and seeing if they could special order you one. menswear stores might have them too, but they won't be as fancy as you'd like. Check for local mens clothiers that sell strictly suits and call.

Haha - and please excuse the typos. I'm admittedly rushing a little at the moment due to the hour and the fact that tomorrow is a work day :-D

I agree w/ Paige. Here's my thoughts and I offer up two options below...

When I responded to this on twitter - I quickly sent back the following link b/c I was on my phone >> http://bit.ly/lWwTOI . Unless you're definitely trying to pushing for the lower bound of your budget ($500) going with ebay, etsy, or a local tailor may be your best bet.

Now if you're definitely wanting to open your wallet (for what I'm imagining is a one night event) and push a style similar to Mr. Bogart in Casablanca - you have this option >> http://bit.ly/jf7l6G . It'll run you a few hundred dollars and appears to be made to order.

If you're looking for a particular brick and mortar storefront you may be more hard-pressed. Costumers will have some possibly, but you don't want to look gaudy.

I'd say go with the "look for less" option online. ebay was a great first suggestion that I second (if that counts for anything).

Vintage is going to be tough to find, but you could check out ebay, Or, take a look at Brioni (a James Bond favorite). Brooks Brother's is another option: http://tinyurl.com/3og46ts. Tom Ford looked HOT in his white dinner jacket at the 2010 Golden Globes! Your best bet might be going to a local quality tailor and having them customize for you. We'll get some more ideas ASAP, so sit tight.
