I am a teacher, and I like to dress professionally, yet fashionably. I am, however, on a budget. What are five staple items that a fashionista should have in her wardrobe for this fall?

The Attire

Banana Republic (outlet), Marshalls, Target, Macy's, Gap

Extra

Your staple 5 items should be
A crisp white shirt, black trousers, a fitted skirt, comfortable but chic flats, and a great jacket... preferably a great blazer. You should focus on and clothes that are cut specifically to your body type. There is nothing like a great cut to an outfit. If the fit is right you will look chic, expensive and stylish.

you'd be surprised at what you can find at stores like Ross Dress for Less, Target, Loehman's. surf some of the shopping websites to get ideas and then go to those stores to try and re-create the look for less.

One look that never goes out of style is a black pencil skirt. You can wear it with such a variety of tops, with, or without tights, closed or open toed pumps. A collared, button up from Club Monaco, GAP, Banana Republic, JCrew, or any of the stores you named, and wear it under a v-neck boyfriend sweater.

Teachers can't be too creative because of strict dress rules/codes. You can always spice up a typically boring outfit by throwing on a hip scarf around your neck.
