Say I'm going to NYC this summer for a week and I want to visit all the great shopping areas, do some site seeing, catch a couple of Broadway shows, walk through Central Park, his some really hip and trendy spots for drinks and dinner and then maybe head to the shore for a day. How do I dress for comfort AND style with out over packing?

Plan every outfit around your shoes! Bring 2 pair. One that you can walk around town during the day in. A pair of TOMS would be perfect because they are comfortable yet stylish and you can wear them with ALMOST anything. For evening bring your favorite pair of heels. Maybe a peep toe or strappy sandal since it is summer. Summer in NYC is very hot and humid during the day. Evenings can cool off. I always recommend packing liquid band-aids and/or regular band aids in your purse because it is not uncommon for you or someone you might be traveling with to get blisters. THAT reason alone is why you must pack around your shoes when visiting NYC!
Im going to LA in 2 weeks and I always have a problem with overpacking! To avoid loads of luggage make sure you pack transition pieces. Try to pack dresses that can easily go from day to night, and skirts, or shorts in basic colors that you can mix and match with diffrent tops. I ussually pack more tops than anything because there so easy and quick to change when traveling.Limit yourself to about 3 pairs of shoes; sandles, ballet flats and a great pair of heels to mix it up! and oh yeah! Garment bags versus a suite case is always better for me when packing because you can fit in more pieces with out looking like a "bag lady" lol Have fun!
